When I reported my internship on a D10 visa, my company said that it must be reported within 15 days of the start date on your internship contract, after which you will receive a confirmation text saying they have accepted your internship. Also, note that you can also fax your documents to report it or have your company report it for you, as they will already have the required documents

Yes exactly, after you sign the contract on your first day likely you or your company or you will fax the required documents to the immigration office the same day. After a couple of days they will send you a text message saying your internship report has been accepted.
