How should I use hospitals in Korea?
In Korea, specialty clinics seem to be on every block, and there don’t appear to be strict referral requirements to use them. Without a referral from a primary care doctor—and even if it’s not an emergency—can I go directly whenever I think I need to?

Since each clinic operates independently, services, wait times, and availability can vary. It’s a good idea to check recent reviews on sites like Google to see if they’re accepting new patients and to read about others’ experiences.

TL;DR: Yes. You can just walk into small neighborhood clinics on your own. Korea’s healthcare is well developed. There’s a clinic on basically every block, and you can easily find different specialties (orthopedics, internal medicine, ENT, etc.). Just drop in, get seen, and pick up your meds. No extra steps. University hospitals are different. People usually go there with a referral from a smaller clinic when it’s something they can’t handle.
