IT Jobs in Korea for Foreigners in 2025
I’m planning to start looking for IT jobs in Korea sometime in 2025. My background’s in software development, but I’m still trying to figure out how the hiring process works here for foreigners. What platforms are actually useful these days? Any newer job sites or services in 2025 that are more foreigner-friendly for IT roles? Also, how important is Korean fluency now for positions like software engineer, data analyst, or sysadmin? I’ve heard that some startups and global teams use mostly English, but not sure how realistic that is in practice. If you’ve been job hunting in Korea recently, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience—what helped you stand out, which skills or certs seem to be in demand, and anything else that might help someone breaking into the scene.

"Companies like Coupang tend to have English only interviews because the staff on those areas is fully English speaking, they have people from all around the globe For example, Google almost had my application rejected because the Korean phone number I provided on my resume didn’t work because the manager was in Singapore at the time and he hadn’t called via the international code Coupang however is just like applying for an abroad position, no discrimination as long as you can pass the interviews online. So unless you’re a very high profile position like director or smth, you’ll be asked to fly to Korea to have the final interview In short, it depends, some companies want you to be bilingual for the position youre looking for, some only want English"
