Getting a marketing job in Korea
Hello everyone! I’m from Germany and have about 6 years of experience in marketing, mainly in content and social media for an IT platform company. I’ve managed TikTok, Instagram and YouTube before. I’ve recently been thinking about changing jobs, and South Korea seems very interesting to me. However, I don’t really know how the process works for foreigners who want to find a job there. Is it realistic to get hired by a Korean company with my background? I hope I don’t need to study at a Korean university first, haha. Any advice or personal experience would be very helpful. thanks a lot!

You already have over 5 years of experience in marketing, right? Then you don’t need to study again at a Korean university. Just make sure you can prove your experience with some documents or certificates. To work here, you’ll need an E-7 visa, which has to be sponsored by a company. So if you find a company that wants to hire you and they can sponsor your visa, it’s definitely possible to work in Korea 😊 But honestly, it’s very hard to find a job here without speaking Korean. If you don’t know Korean yet, I’d suggest coming first with a D-4(language study) visa to learn the language. After that, job hunting will be much easier!

Wow, that’s amazing having 6 years of experience already! From what I know, if you’re currently abroad, it’s often helpful to actually come to Korea to attend interviews in person. Many people start by coming on a tourist visa while job hunting, or apply for a job-seeking visa (D-10) to look for work more officially. Once you get a job offer, you can apply for an E-7 visa, which is the typical work visa for professionals in Korea. Actually, a lot of foreigners first come to Korea as university students — not necessarily because they need more education, but because it's often easier to get a work visa later if you already have a Korean degree and language ability. But with your experience in marketing and social media, I think you definitely have a shot — especially if you’re open to working at companies looking to expand globally or target international markets!
