Visa Description

  • A person who has held the nationality of the Republic of Korea by birth (including compatriots who emigrated abroad before the establishment of the Republic of Korea) or a person who has acquired a foreign nationality as an immediate relative.

 

Visa Candidate

  • A Korean national domiciled in Korea or a person with a permanent resident status (F-5) who is invited by a blood relative within the eighth degree or a relative within the fourth degree.
  • National meritorious persons and their survivors under the provisions of the Act on Honoring and Supporting National Meritorious Persons, or independent meritorious persons and their survivors or their families under the provisions of the Act on Honoring Independent Meritorious Persons.
  • A person who has made special contributions to the Republic of Korea or contributed to the promotion of the national interests of the Republic of Korea.
  • Parents and spouses of persons who are enrolled for one semester or more in a study abroad (D-2) program.
  • Persons who have voluntarily departed the country in accordance with the standards and procedures prescribed by the Minister of Justice for the purpose of maintaining the orderly stay of foreigners in Korea.
  • Other persons who do not meet the above criteria and have been selected through a process established by the Minister of Justice.

 

Visa Requirements

  • Common Documents
    • Proof of Korean language proficiency
    • Overseas Criminal History Certificate
  • Compatriots
    • Certificates of family records, discharge certificates, etc.
    • If the kinship is confirmed by Korean family register (discharge), a certificate of family relationship (family relationship certificate, basic certificate, marriage certificate) or discharge certificate required to prove the kinship.
    • If kinship is not confirmed by Korean family register (discharge), original (copy) birth certificate or family register and residence card, affidavit of kinship and identity guarantee of the sponsor, and affidavit of kinship of the sponsee.
  • Unrelated compatriots
    • Official documents from the country of nationality proving compatriot status
  • Compatriots reentering the country after an expiration date
    • Official documents from the country of nationality proving that you are a compatriot
    • Proof of Korean language proficiency
    • Overseas criminal record certificate
    • Submission of a handwritten health certificate when applying for an overseas diplomatic visa
