On February 25th, the Ministry of Justice changed its policy to allow the issuance of seasonal work visas (C-4, E-8) to the parents of international students studying in Korea.
Previously, aside from family invitations for marriage immigrants (F-6), the scope of invitations for seasonal work has been expanded to include the parents of international students. Shall we take a look at the details of this pilot project?
February 26, 2024, to December 31, 2024
The same area as the international student's affiliated university (based on metropolitan city/provincial government)
- Parents of foreign students who have received a D-2 visa for studying in Korea, having been enrolled for at least one year at a non-capital region accredited university, and have at least two semesters remaining.
- Under 55 years old, in good health, and without a criminal record.
- Parents of students on a language training (D-4) visa and parents of students studying in the capital region universities (D-2 visa holders) are excluded.
- C-4 (90 days) or E-8 (5 months + 3 months extension)
Application and Entry Procedure
1. International students apply through the local government office where their university is located.
2. A labor contract is signed between the employer and the parent of the international student.
3. The parents of the international student apply for a visa issuance confirmation at an overseas mission.
4. They engage in seasonal work activities after entering Korea.
