Hello, this is KOWORK, Korea’s No.1 platform for foreign job seekers and employers.
For HR professionals who find hiring foreign talent challenging or distant,
we share success stories and know-how from companies that have successfully recruited global talent.
Today, we spoke with CEO Seol Ryan Hyun Geu of Arbaim,
a fresh platform for social video reviews that’s driving global growth. 👨🎨
— Hello, nice to meet you. Could you briefly introduce your company?
Hello, I’m Seol Ryan Hyun Geu, CEO of Arbaim.
Our platform 'greyd' is basically a short-form app like TikTok, but with a twist — it focuses on video-based product reviews.
You can think of it as a blend of social media and e-commerce.

— What prompted you to consider hiring foreign talent?
Since our product is designed for users from different countries to share video reviews and connect with each other,
hiring foreign talent has always been part of our plan. We also run a lot of global campaigns,
which makes international talent essential. Plus, many of our key target users are foreigners living in Korea,
so having foreign team members is crucial to truly understand their needs.
— What is the most important factor when hiring foreign talent?
Language and communication skills are key. We expect both English and Korean, but English tends to matter a bit more for us.
Since influencer marketing is a big part of what we do, strong communication is essential.
Beyond that, we look at soft skills like adaptability to Korean culture and a real passion for growth.
— What has been the most challenging part of hiring foreign talent?
Foreign talent living in Korea can always return to their home country, so it’s hard to gauge long-term loyalty.
That’s why, as I mentioned earlier, we focus more on adaptability, passion, and attitude.

— What has been the most positive change since hiring foreign talent?
It makes overseas expansion much smoother. Recently, when 'Wang Jing' joined us, we entered the Chinese market for the first time and are already seeing results.
For companies that truly want or need global growth, I’ve realized that hiring foreign talent as a core asset is essential.
— What is the aspect you pay the most attention to when hiring foreign talent?
I think mindset matters more than technical skills—things like responsibility, diligence, and the genuine intention to work in Korea. From the start, we’ve focused on finding people who fit well with us in these areas.
Honestly, the best way to figure this out is by working together, so internships are a great way to give both sides time to adjust.

— Lastly, is there any message you’d like to share with foreign job seekers or customers?
I’m sure many foreign job seekers came to Korea with big dreams, and if you join us, you’ll have the chance to grow faster than anywhere else! If you’re worried about Korea’s hierarchical work culture or want clear rewards for your efforts, don’t hesitate to apply.
