Hello, this is KOWORK, Korea’s No.1 platform for foreign job seekers and employers.
For HR professionals who find hiring foreign talent challenging or distant,
we share success stories and know-how from companies that have successfully recruited global talent.
Today, we spoke with the hiring manager of 'Morningart', the leading eco-friendly
electric cooking appliance manufacturer that has maintained its No.1 position both in Korea and abroad. 👩🍳
— Hello, nice to meet you. Could you briefly introduce your company?
Hello, I’m the hiring manager at 'Morningart'.
For the past 50 years, 'Morningart' has been a leading electric cooking appliance company, driven by continuous R&D and accumulated technical expertise.
Under the slogan “Caring for the Environment and Health”, we manufacture and distribute far-infrared electric roasters.
— What prompted you to consider hiring foreign talent?
We export our products not only within Korea but also worldwide, which made us realize the need for foreign marketers.
As expected, they’ve shown exceptional talent in creating content using Korean, English, and other language materials.
— What is the most important factor when hiring foreign talent?
We focused on both job skills and communication abilities. In a company, it’s especially important to have team members who can jump into practical work right away.
So, we looked for candidates who can quickly understand tasks and carry them out independently, almost like experienced staff.
Initially, we prioritized candidates fluent in multiple languages, particularly English.
But with tools like GPT and other translation technologies, we realized that language skills alone aren’t as critical for marketing tasks.
What matters most is having enough Korean to communicate effectively with the team—beyond that, language is no longer a major hurdle.
— What has been the most challenging part of hiring foreign talent?
Compared to local hires, there were limitations in verifying personal information, previous experience, and work history. Obtaining visas was also challenging.
Since we had no prior experience hiring foreign employees, handling visa issuance for the first time was particularly difficult.
🔍
KOWORK offers visa support services to help overcome these challenges!
We specialize in E-7 visa issuance, boasting a success rate of over 90%.
🔼 Marketing Intern 'PHAM QUOC HUU'
— What has been the most positive change since hiring foreign talent?
It’s not just because they’re a foreigner—their bright personality really lifted the office atmosphere (laughs).
Being a skilled and independent worker, they’ve also improved overall efficiency.
Plus, their ability to speak multiple languages has added both linguistic and cultural diversity to our content.
— Do you have any funny stories about your foreign employees?
Not everyday life stuff, but work-related.
Recently, Pham Quoc Huu came up with content that connected our product with the theme of “party.”
And of course, no party is complete without a BBQ! They creatively tied together music, parties, and our electric roaster in the concept.
This fresh perspective made it fun for the team to work on, and the content actually got great views and engagement.
— Do you plan to expand or hire more foreign talent in the future?
After evaluating the performance of our current intern, Pham Quoc Huu, once their internship ends,
if we find no major difficulties or differences in working together,
we would consider hiring more skilled foreign talent from diverse cultural backgrounds.
