Hello, this is KOWORK, Korea’s No.1 platform for foreign job seekers and employers.
For HR professionals who find hiring foreign talent challenging or distant,
we share success stories and know-how from companies that have successfully recruited global talent.
Today, we spoke with Caroline from STEMON, a leading biotech company in
cell therapy development and digital drug delivery systems. 👩🔬
— Hello, nice to meet you. Could you briefly introduce your company?
Hello, I’m Caroline Brami from the Marketing Division at STEMON.
StemOn is a biotech platform company researching and developing digitally guided cell therapies and exosome-based digital drug delivery systems, leading innovations in regenerative medicine and precision drug delivery.

— What prompted your pharmaceutical and biotech company to consider hiring foreign talent?
We mainly hire foreign employees for our marketing and sales departments.
Due to the nature of our industry and products, we work extensively with overseas companies. Foreign marketers handle communication with international buyers, participate in global exhibitions, and manage global marketing tasks. Recently, we’ve also started hiring foreigners for our platform development team.
— What is the most important factor when hiring foreign talent?
The key considerations are job competency and Korean language skills.
Even if an applicant speaks Korean well, if they haven’t listed a TOPIK score on their resume, the company may assume their Korean skills are insufficient. We strongly recommend obtaining the certification.
— What has been the most challenging or difficult part of hiring foreign talent?
The biggest challenge was finding candidates who could adapt well to our company’s lifestyle and culture.
It was especially difficult to assess whether they would fit into Korean corporate culture and work well with the team.
Of course, this challenge exists with local hires too! Researching the company thoroughly is very important.

— What has been the most positive change since hiring foreign talent?
Hiring foreign employees has contributed the most to our global business development.
As a biotech company, we often deal with complex matters that require quick responses. Having staff who are familiar with local markets or fluent in languages like English, Spanish, and Japanese makes operations run much more smoothly.
In particular, it has greatly improved our effectiveness in international exhibitions and communication with overseas clients.
— For companies planning to expand globally, what should they pay the most attention to when hiring foreign talent?
Visa status is crucial, as it’s a key factor for smooth onboarding and long-term employment.
Our company supports E-7 visa issuance, so as long as the requirements are met, the process goes smoothly.
🔍
KOWORK offers visa support services to help overcome these challenges!
We specialize in E-7 visa issuance, boasting a success rate of over 90%.

— What has been the most helpful aspect of using KOWORK for hiring foreign talent?
It has been extremely helpful in screening profiles and quickly identifying candidates who fit the company’s needs, including their current visa status and place of residence.
— Do you have any interesting stories related to your foreign employees?
Actually, I also got my job here through KOWORK (which is why I’m doing this interview)!
It was a very positive experience for me. The platform was easy to use, and I could quickly find companies that matched my background.
One feature I found especially convenient was that once I entered information like visa status and languages on my resume, I didn’t have to fill it out repeatedly for multiple job postings.
From a reviewer’s perspective, this is great too, because it allows you to see key details like visa and language skills at a glance—something usually missing from standard resume templates.
Going forward, I hope to continue living in Korea and further develop my skills in Korean, sales, and marketing.
— Lastly, is there any message you’d like to share with foreign job seekers or companies preparing to hire foreign talent?
Collaborating with foreign employees has enriched our company culture through diverse cultural exchanges.
To foreign job seekers: be confident and take initiative in pursuing opportunities!
