In April, through the “Seoul City Attractive Job Opportunities” program organized by the Korea Venture Business Association, a match was made between a talented foreign individual and a local company.
Today, we’d like to share this unique matching story.
Why did she choose to study in Korea? What has her internship experience been like? Let’s hear sincerely from this foreign intern about her time working at the company.
— Hello! It’s great to meet you. Could you please introduce yourself?
Hello, I’m Miha from Bulgaria. I’ve been in South Korea for five years and graduated from Hanyang University with a major in Theatre. Currently, on an F‑6 visa, I’m working as a marketing intern at Homes In Korea.

— Among many countries, why did you choose to study in Korea?
My interest in Korea began with Hallyu (K‑Pop). I started learning the language, and after a family trip to Korea, I fell in love with the country. I originally dreamed of becoming an actor and believed Korea offered superb standards in acting. During university, my interest expanded to content creation and marketing. I saw the potential in Korea’s marketing industry and wanted to build my future here.
— What was the most worrying part of pursuing your dream?
As a foreigner, I was very concerned about whether I could find employment in Korea. It felt like a vague dream, and I worried a lot. Then I came across the Seoul City Attractive Job Opportunities program and decided to apply.
— You must have had many concerns living abroad. How did you first come across the program?
Since I was preparing to enter the Korean job market, I frequently used Kowork. I checked the website and Instagram daily, saw the poster, and decided to apply.
— That’s great—so Kowork was useful to you! What features did you find most helpful?
The visa score test and visa-related information were the most helpful. They set Kowork apart from other platforms. I’d love to see practical programs in the future, like UI/UX design or digital marketing training, for international students.
— Besides improving job-related skills through programs, what was the hardest part of finding a job?
Everything—creating my resume, portfolio, and preparing for interviews—was challenging (laughs). Especially interviews. I had to understand each company and research what kind of candidate they were looking for.
Kowork uploads useful information and job postings on Instagram every week.

— After overcoming so many challenges, you finally started the internship! What moments have been the most rewarding or difficult?
The most rewarding moment was interviewing 20 Korean university students myself. I’m grateful for the hands-on experience—not just content creation, but actually working as a marketer. On the other hand, writing emails in Korean made me nervous about making mistakes. But I feel I’m growing through this process.
— Did you ever feel communication difficulties due to cultural or language differences?
Not much. Our work is conducted in about 60% Korean and 40% English, so communication flows smoothly. My colleagues are very friendly, and I enjoy working with them—it’s something I’m proud to tell my friends about.
— How essential is Korean for work, and how do you learn it?
Marketing terms are actually harder than Korean itself, so that’s been the biggest challenge. I read Korean books daily, note unfamiliar words immediately, and memorize them.

— Do you plan to continue living and working in Korea as a marketer?
As I gain more practical experience, I’m convinced Korea’s marketing field is full of possibilities. I want to continue working and growing in this industry. Plus, everything in Korea is fast and convenient—I’d love to stay here (laughs).
— Finally, what advice would you give to foreign friends preparing for jobs in Korea?
Just because you didn’t pass an interview doesn’t mean you’re not good enough. The company may have been looking for someone with a specific nationality or experience. Don’t give up—keep trying!
If you're considering hiring foreign talent, now is the perfect time.
