Do you know about the newly established visa, the Digital Nomad (Workation) Visa, this year?!
First, let me tell you about what a Digital Nomad, or Workation Visa is.
Workation Visa is a combination of 'Work' and 'Vacation', a visa issued to those who can work remotely with just a computer, regardless of any specific location or country!
Therefore, it's essentially a visa issued to developers, freelancers, and remote workers to stay and work in a specific country for a certain period of time!
As it provides a longer stay period than a tourist visa, it seems to be designed to encourage economic activities in the local area.
Workation Visa Eligibility
Those eligible for a Workation Visa are foreign nationals who own overseas businesses or are affiliated with overseas companies and have worked in the same industry remotely for more than 1 year,
And those whose income is at least twice the previous year's Gross National Income (GNI) per capita according to the Bank of Korea's announcement.
Visa Application Processing Agency
You can apply for a Workation Visa at overseas embassies or immigration offices when you are staying domestically.
If you meet the requirements for short-term tourist visas (B-1, B-2, C-3), you can change your eligibility to a Workation Visa!
Health Insurance Enrollment Required
It is essential to have personal health insurance with coverage of at least 100 million won for medical treatment and repatriation to your home country during your stay!

- Employment certificate
- Proof of income (payroll, bank transaction records, etc.)
- Criminal record certificate
- Personal health insurance certificate
- Proof of family relationship (if accompanying family)
Domestic Stay Period
The domestic stay period is granted for one year from the date of entry, and can be extended for up to 2 years.
